In this new land in the time before,
these new men’s aspirations clawed their way ashore.
This allure lacking an alliance in allegiance,
frayed garment garb denied their future malfeasance.
Anxious but amazed at what lays at their feet
dazed they glaze, this bounty further than eyes can see.
The birch bark beckoning the ark of the axe,
Eek battle buffalo for tall grass the meadows don’t lack.
Now a ceremonial cultural communal of blood-bothers
entertained Indian corn sweet as rain, embroidery explained.
Then hostilities harvested from the happy hunting grounds
their ammunition defeat those arrows from painted frowns.
This cruel cultural clash crushes, communicating a new dawn.
craft’s campsite custom canoes, mumps measles white mans flu.
Ancient ancestor’s artifacts, the eagles still swore this noble act,
yet the cost! the lost! from time past, it still escapes their grasp.
